Masterson’s Pub , located in the heart of Moonee Ponds , brands itself as a fashionable, contemporary hangout, but my latest trip at this establishment resulted in an experience I’d rather forget . While the bar may appear inviting from the outside , what I encountered behind its entrance was disgraceful and unfit for any venue.
Cleanliness Issues : Filthy and Neglected Beyond Belief
From the moment I stepped inside , it was evident that cleanliness was not a priority at this venue. The floors were sticky , and a pungent odor of old alcohol and filthy restrooms filled the entire bar . Emitting a scent of a mixture of urine , a rotting odor and a sickly smell. The bar area , which should be the centerpiece of any pub, was piled high with used mugs and debris that looked like it hadn’t been touched in ages . The restroom was in even a more revolting state — clogged , with a snapped lever and walls stained in what I can only assume was human excrement .

From reading other reviews and conversing with residents , it seems that the state of cleanliness (or lack thereof) at Masterson’s is a well-known check here flaw . Many guests have reported witnessing insects darting across the serving surface and signs of rats in the bar and house area .
